It’s a Friday evening and you’re looking to reward yourself after a long and exhausting work week with a large plate of food and somewhere between two and six beers. Korean BBQ and Mexican fajitas instantly emerge as two can’t-miss options that will leave you highly satisfied, but which one is better? Here is an analysis and conclusion.
Both Korean BBQ and Mexican fajitas provide a do-it-yourself platform from which you can create a meal on your own terms. Both are delicious celebrations of foreign cultures that are perfect dinner choices for folks with type-A personalities who like to be in control of a situation whenever possible. To this end, Korean BBQ actually puts more control in the hands of the consumer, allowing you to not only decide how much you would like of each item but also how you would like it cooked.
Fajitas typically arrive at the table sizzling and steaming, fresh from the grill. This is impressive but obviously does not offer the hands-on level of control as compared to a Korean BBQ, which often allows you to cook your meats and veggies using a grill in the middle of the table. Perhaps this arrangement has roots in health and sanitation, as the idea of grilling raw chicken at a diner table somehow doesn’t seem anywhere near as fun as the process you can experience at a Korean BBQ.
While Mexican fajitas have certainly had their heyday and will always have a place in the hearts and stomachs of Americans, Korean BBQ is clearly the better choice. The ability to cook the food in the center of the table brings an element of flair to the dining experience that serves many purposes other than warming meats, including starting conversations or simply giving someone something to do with busy hands.
The ambiance and camaraderie that is present at a Korean BBQ table is unique and simply cannot be matched by a plate of chicken and bell peppers, no matter how piping-hot and sizzling they may be. While either one is a great choice for dinner, it is clear upon further analysis that Korean BBQ is superior to Mexican fajitas.
